When one of my daughters fell in love with the
Saanen breed after helping a fellow exhibitor at a
local show, she pestered me so much that I let her
reserve a doe kid at Tempo. Eudril was the results
of that reservation, and we could not have hoped for
a better kid! Eudril is an enormous doe - tall,
long, leggy, and VERY dairy! She has a long, lean
neck which blends smoothly into sharp withers, and
is an extremely elegant and flat boned doe,
especially for her age. She is very wide across the
loin and chine, which translates into a huge 'dinner
plate' rump, and stands on a wonderful set of feet
and legs. Her escutcheon is high and wide, and
developing a very correct precocious udder that I
have no doubt will turn into a lovely, productive
mammary. If there is anything that we would fault
her for, it would be her lack of body. Having shot
up as quickly as she did, her barrel is still trying
to catch up and even out in relation to her size.
But all in all, she is a very promising doe and we
can't wait to see her fresh!
We chose to
freshen Eudril as a yearling due to her sheer size,
and we are very pleased with the result! Eudril's
udder is beautiful. It is high and wide in the rear,
great teat placement, and very good attachment all
around. Not to mention she milks like a cow: 11.4
pounds on her first test, in the middle of hot and
humid July, as a yearling milker! This girl is
definitely one to watch!
Eudril's
pedigree is filled with high performance animals.
Eudril's dam, GCH Tempo Passa Euterpe 10*M LA 91 (EVEE),
is a big, powerful doe in the Tempo Passa herd who
finished her championship with 2 BIS wins. A full
sister to SGCH Tempo Passa Elenya 10*M LA 93 (EEEE)
- the 2017 AGA National Champion and Reserve Best
Udder and a lovely doe in her own right - Euterpe
very nearly managed a 4,000 pound lactation as a 3rd
freshener. Eudril's sire, Tempo Passa Eryx, produced
Tempo Passa Wintalker 6*M LA 91 (EVEE), the 1st/1st
udder milking yearling at the '17 National
Show and the 2nd/2nd udder 2 year old at the '18
National Show, and is the son of SGCH des-Ruhigestelle
Elendili 8*M LA 92 (EEEE), a 2X top ten milker.
Eudril is slowly but
surely deepening and maturing. A second freshening
has brought more milk and udder capacity, as well as
a serious will to milk! She peaked at 14# and now, 3
weeks from her due date, is still milking. Eudril
picked up a RGCH and a BUOB during a very
competitive show season. This is a doe that is only
going to get better with age!!
Now a 3 year old 3rd
freshener, Eudril has really started to come into
her own! Peaking at 16#, and looking better and
better each day, she has truly cemented her place in
the barn. After freshening three years in a row and
proving what a workhorse she is in the milking
parlor, I think she deserves to take a year off to
just grow and mature (and milk!), and will be milked
through for 2022.
