Anemone was an unexpected keeper back in 2017.
Being a late May kid and the first and only Recorded
Grade kid in the herd, we debated whether or not to
keep her. However, after the Saanens joined the herd
and watching how well she was turning out, we
decided to let her stick around, and boy are we glad
we did! Anemone really has the full package. She is
wide and powerful throughout, while still being an
elegant and high-headed doe. She is very upstanding,
has beautiful depth of chest, and lots of width
throughout, translating into a high, wide escutcheon. She stands on an excellent set of feet
and legs, and has a wide, flat rump. There really
isn't much that I would change about her, other than
wishing she were an all around larger,
taller doe. But, after shocking us by winning BIS
over 85+ other juniors at our most competitive fall
show, she really proved that bigger does not mean
better, and that her size is the last thing that
will hold her back. I expect great things from this
doe and am very excited to see her on our milking
string! We were excited to see Anemone
fresh for the first time in the spring of 2019, and
she certainly did not disappoint! Despite having a
rough go of it, requiring a C-section to deliver a
single dead kid and then needing to be induced to
come into milk, she bounced back with ease and was
looking good enough to take out to a competitive
3-ring show just four weeks later where she topped
her class in all 3 rings. Her udder is possibly the
best that we have yet seen on a Constantine daughter
along with Cecilia--long and smooth in the fore and
high and wide in the rear with tremendous
attachment. While she is not milking as much as we
would like to see, her production level is more than
understandable given her abnormal delivery with a
single kid, and she nevertheless comes to the
milking stand full every morning and evening. Pair
that with her easy-going personality, and she has
cemented her spot in the herd. This girl gets to
stick around!
After taking the year off in 2020, much to my
dismay, Anemone started 2021 off with a bang. She
once again only had a single kid, but with her first
normal freshening came lots of milk! At her very
first show out, she was GCH and BOB, which finished
her championship, and unfortunately has not been
able to go out again due to show wins not being
processed. Nevertheless, she continues to look
lovely at home and I hop eto get her out to a few
more shows later in the year! |
