I had not planned to keep a
junior herdsire this year, but when Berlin was born
I just could not resist. Long, level topline, flat
dinner-plate rump, absolutely incredible strength of
bone and spring of rib - there is not a lot of fault
in this guy, and that is hard to come by in a buck!
I believe he will improve rumps, length throughout,
dairy strength and strength of bone, feet and legs,
and improve rear udder height and attachment both
fore and rear. Berlin has live covered a couple of
does for us, and I am very excited to see his kids
in 2023.
Berlin's pedigree combines the very best of our
animals and genetics into one goat. Berlin's dam is
GCH (pend) Caelum Parvum CPX Asgarth Falls 10*M ,
one of our most promising does. She appraised 88
VEVE in April at less than two months fresh, just
one point away from the highest possible for a FF.
She has the highest rear udder in the herd, and
attachment everywhere,. She is an incredibly
balanced doe, a fact that the appraiser just could
not get over! Berlin's sire is Caelum Parvum MH
Harbinger 87 VEV, a buck that sadly did not see
enough use while in the herd. Harbinger's dam,
Caelum Parvum RM Last Promise, was the littermate
sister to Caelum Parvum RM Royal Legacy, the
maternal granddam to Caelum Parvum CPO Polaris 2*M
LA89 VVEE (FF score, ext lactation). Both Polaris
and her dam, Inheritance, have been extremely
productive does, and Polaris in particular is
shaping up to be quite the animal - just one leg
away from her permanent championship, a 3000#
lactation record as a FF followed by an extremely
steady extended lactation, and an appraisal score of
89 at over 14 months fresh. Harbinger's sire,
Forrest-Pride Wild March Hare, was a buck we loved
and lost far too young. March Hare was on the Young
Sire Development list, and sired our own GCH (pend)
Caelum Parvum MH Willow 1*M EX 90 EEEE (FF score,
ext. lactation) who really needs no introduction.
Talk about a pedigree packed full of fabulous
animals! |
